In March 2006 Caroline Bottomley came to Blimp and proposed a competition to help unearth a new generation of directing talent and on Friday night Radar 1.0 served up a whole crop of new talent. From a judge’s perspective it was difficult to pick a winner based on a single piece of work as the overall standard was so high but after reflection James Healy kept coming to the fore. With a background in post production James’ video for Chris Clark allied grace and elegance to technique and a wonderful idea. For a debut promo there’s not much more you can ask. Its been a big video year for Dougal and this is quite possibly the best of the bunch. Shooting for four days on a shoe-string - three days on location and then one day in the studio - this is a real labour of love but working with an icon like Jarvis Cocker was just too good an opportunity for us to miss. Enjoy. |
