What it feels like to be a girl

Welcome Committee have been directing together for a year now but with Chris Sweeney heading off to LA to work in feature films with Adrian Lynne, Sarah Chatfield is going it alone with her solo debut for uber cool techno label Crosstown Rebels.

Recruiting best friend Amy Perfect to play the lead Sarah shot the video over the course of a weekend in Soho and on location producing, directing and lighting everything herself.

We think this is a bit special.

Robbie Williams!

At last we can reveal what young master Ib has been up to this summer though you may have had a sneak preview in last month’s Creative Review. Robbie Williams commissioned him to do his tour visuals for the ongoing world tour. The only trouble was we couldn’t show anyone how good they were until the UK shows were out of the way. Assembling a cast of the most beautiful girls in the world including Blimp favourite Nathalie Laren, Ben pretty much had the time of his life on the shoot. Unfortunately we had to lock him in a room with a computer for 4 weeks to finish the animation part of the job off but I think he’d agree its all been worth the effort as the results are very special.

Where Wolf?

Jon Watts has been very busy this year and with all the cool bands too. Following his stop frame masterpiece for The Spinto Band its another labour intensive – or is that labour of love? - for uber cool new US band TV On The Radio. Drawing on the haunting driving quality of the song and lyrics Jon decided to set the band on the run as a pack of werewolves. As ever not lot of money to spend but a huge amount of work and yet another cracking video.

Dougal's Latest

Dougal’s latest for Badly Drawn Boy originated in discussions with Mull Historical Society’s Colin McIntyre for a low budget pitch four years ago.

This meant that we didn’t want to make the video until we’d got the thumbs up from Mr Mac the trouble was that no one knew where to find him.

Thankfully we did eventually track him down – somewhere in the wilds of Scotland – and he was very happy to see the idea finally brought to life.

Already going down a storm on MTV our news item is a wee bit late as Colonel Blimp has been also been missing in action

This time in the wilds of Ibiza ;)

Ben Hibon

New work from Ben Hibon is always a call for celebration but this time Ben has surpassed himself. Drawing upon characters he created for cult Japanese video game Codehunters Ben was invited to create a series of short animated films and design the awards for MTV Asia. Presented here as a short film Ben is further developing the narrative for a commercial tie in and an animated feature film. For now though he is keen to get stuck back into music videos and is fan of the darker end of rock and electronica – commissioners please take note!

Dougal Jaxx

Dougal Wilson is back with some glorious silliness for Basement Jaxx.

Inspired by the plucked banjo line – he heard balalikas – the big man felt there was nowhere else to set things than deep-midwinter in the wheat bowl of Europe.

Shot over two days in Kiev; featuring an antique T-34 tank; 40 Cossack dancers and a horse this end of night puller is given the full Wilson treatment.
