November 2004ALex & Liane's Bloc Party30/11/2004 - Permalink
Alex and Lianne clinched the Bloc Party video with a killer test starring the directing duo themselves and shot in and around Berlin's Zoo Station. Continuing the DIY style the video itself was shot by the band themselves using a mono-pod and perfectly charts the tracks build from mantra to triumphant crescendo while also capturing the autumnal feeling the band were after. Adam Smith's new Chemical Brothers30/11/2004 - Permalink
Adam Smith has been a long term collaborator with The Chemical Brothers providing their amazing visuals for the past decade as one half of Vegetable Vision. Initially inspired by Adam's work for Blinded By The Lights the band wanted to go in a narrative direction for Galvanize but this time the focus has shifted more towards the wide eyed wonder early teens than jaded decadence. OK so Dougal didn't win the MTV award for best video but a great time was had by all in Bella Roma. Brian Barber deservedly picked up the prize for Outkast's "Hey Yeah" but The Colonel and Mr Wilson had a most excellent night on the tiles and would like to send a special thanks to our new friends Giada; Fabio; Sergio; Livia; Vincente; Christiano; Costas; Luigi who took us on a whirlwind tour of the cities underground discotheques. From the Blimp Under 5s we present Alastair Siddon's video for the Streets remix "Get Out Of My House" and Corine Stubi's charmingly pervy "Rocker" for Alter Ego. Alastair picks up where Adam Smith leaves off and details the travails of trying to squeeze in a crafty shag before your mum gets home with the shopping. We've all been there. Inspired by the slightly dodgy postcards you get in the less salubrious European resorts - the kind that one minute the model has her clothes on but with the slightest flick of the wrist they're off - Corine has come up with something very sexy but underpinned with a certain menace that works well with this years biggest electro track. Adam Smith's new GoldieLookinChain - You Knows I Love Ya18/11/2004 - Permalink
Adam Smith's latest with Welsh weed sensations Goldie Lookin Chain. In a cynical effort to beat Band Aid to the xmas number one spot Adam has lampooned as many boy band cliche's as is possible - budget restrictions do apply! - without letting the concept swamp the performance. Every one a banger but we think Eggsy steals the show. |
