Biography

Sarah started out as a camera assistant after studying Television Production at Bournemouth University, and Film Production and Cinematography at Ryerson University in Toronto.

When she returned to England she began working as a director of photography, but moved over to directing in 2005 and has been making music videos through Colonel Blimp ever since. Her break through came with the colourful promo for Lily Allen’s single ‘Alfie’. The live action and puppet based video was a huge airplay success, and Sarah was subsequently commissioned for a variety of other top pop acts including the Noisettes, Lykke Li and Annie. Sarah was awarded Best New Director and Best Pop video for ‘Alfie’ at the CADs awards in June of 2007.

At the end of 2007 herself and former directing partner Chris Sweeney were approached by Stefano Pilati at Yves Saint Laurent to direct the catwalk-replacing fashion film for their A/W 08/09 Menswear collection, starring Simon Woods. The film was a resounding success and led to a further commission for the SS 09 collection; this time a series of shorts which were displayed in a vast gallery space in the Musée de l'Homme as part of fashion week.
